HI GG!!!

BEN

Here's one for Leigh, this guy is a good singer but I think he could use a bit of help with the lyrics...still...it's just a tiny little more football...and I'll take it wherever I can get it.

BRADY

ha! Nice pics btw!

I was also skeptical about the fish, but trust me--if you get something VERY mild then you actually get a meal that has protein and keeps you full for a while--unlike simple risotto. It was so good.

That sounds sketchy to me too, but only after you add the fish. I'd make the rice thing and, in fact, i may tomorrow.

I STILL KNOW IT JENN!!!

On my windows is a combination of some kind of film which I presume is either left by windex or paper towels, oil from my boy's face (he must put his face on every window at least once per month) and moisture from my cats noses who sit in all the windows watching for dinner outsied.

one pot meal--DELISH

Mila's pretty fussy lately about what she can and cannot eat. She either doesn't like it or can't have it, etc. We managed to find 3 or 4 things that she can tolerate and this is what we came up with:

put 2 tbsp butter and 2 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet. add 1/4 cup shitake mushrooms and cook until they are nice and soft. add 1 c of arborrio rice.....make risotto in the normal fashion...add 3/4 C blanched broccoli and 1/2 lb baked, flaked white fish (we used hallibut), and 1/2 c Parmesan cheese.

before execution, it sounded a little sketchy to me..but it was really really good. i mean, really much better than you would think. everything was cut small..nothing overpowered anything. and i used organic chicken broth, which tastes SO much better than swanson. make this dinner!

Dare I ask why your windows have slime smudges to begin with?

OH i forgot to report on the most thrilling part of my week so far!!!

I finally was able to get my windows clean!!!! I bought glass plus and windex has these new wipey clothes that are lint free and don't have anything in them to streak the windows, they're reuseable too! So, I'm washing windows today. I'm so excited. i just wish I could wash the outside too. I'm pretty happy there isn't a giant smudge of slime all over the inside now, though. You should be too.

There are about 30 people on my "team" and I hate that word by the way. There are gearing up to 150 in the next two months so I don't know what my "team" will look like day to day. I am definitely not irreplaceable and I doubt they give raises where I work. I guess we'll see....

Wednesday, January 24, 2007

So there are 3 people on my team right--well, me, two other people, and my boss. Well this guy came in today with a document and said "I want someone to take control of the documentation on this project, and it's not going to be S and it's not going to be A".....but he used their names, obviously. It is all part of my plot to make myself indispensable so they will eventually let me work from home. Oh, and I'm getting my 3rd raise in 2 years next month. Go me. Too bad I absolutely hate it here.

I

Well, it goes without saying that I was pretty disappointed with the game on Sunday. I did get over it tolerably well by Monday morning however, and was very surprised that I didn't wake up HATING Payton. Whatever, I suppose he has to win one sometime. Let it be known that I will be rooting for the Bears in SB XLI. Why? Because one of my customer's asked me to, so I said I would. I have to admit I care nothing about it though.

The Style of the Union

Thank goodness Nancy didn't wear red. Why does every political woman think she needs to wear red??? I blame Nancy.

And good for you Jim Webb--you give off a wicked creepy vibe, but if you can get past that, you say good things.

First Snow

I made the tragic mistake of going to Wegman's the day of the first snow in the DC area. WHAT a mob scene--Ellen and RK, the saturday before Thanksgiving had NOTHIN on this day.

I came back to a little 5 or 6 year old girl screaming in my parking lot to the other kids "I'm gonna die because it's TOO COLD!!" and stomp her way back toward the building. By the way, light snow and 25 degrees, 19 with wind chill. Cold? Yes. Deadly to a 5 year old? I'm not so sure...she looked bundled to me.

Happy Birthday to Unk....hope you've had a good one.

Thursday, January 18, 2007

Wow--Candy's going to die in the same way!

Well, Beav and I were not overly impressed with Philly...now granted, we only saw a tiny, tiny piece of it, but the streets are very narrow which made the place feel claustrophobic to me. But the party was a LOT of fun. I had a GREAT fillet mignon and a lot of gin and tonic...I mean a LOT.

I forgot dishes.... and beds.

my list for today...

finish the laundry
shovel some driveway
change my windshield wipers
clean my car
go to basketball
go to piano
go to bridge

Did you have your whole choir sing "Happy Birthday" to me?

I'm thinkin maybe pot roast and beer for sunday, maybe pot roast roasted in beer, i feel that i must summon all new england mojo for this game. Maybe i'm going to have to go back and find out what Abigail Adams used to feed Sam Adams. If you have suggestions on appropriate New England fare for football, I welcome them. Sam Adams beer is definitely on the menu, however.

behind the times

I haven't even TRIED to log on to the new blogger except once because none of my blogs showed up. Isn't snoop fancy with the layered pics...

Anyway, go Pat's, boo to all those doubters out there. I think I've convinced Leigh to be on our side now that finally all her teams are out. It's ok if you root for NO though Snoop, they ARE the Cinderella of this year after all.

A-Lo where does your loyalty lie this week? hmmm? I have a feeling you don't really care who wins with the poutin' guy playin....

Well, I haven't been sleeping much lately (about 6 hours) so I've taken to watching movies in bed at night. The last few nights I've watched "Ordinary People," which is based on a book I used to teach--it IS ordinary, but it is beautiful and Mary Tyler Moore plays the biggest biatch ever. If you like slow 80s movies that are ALMOST after school specials but really much more heartbreaking, get it.

The wife of the guy who bought my ipod offered to replace my serpentine belt...so she did. My car is STILL squealing, however...I discovered this upon starting my car after she brought it back to me. It doesn't squeal as much, it definitely running better, but it still squeals when I start it. Quite sad.

Beavis is coming tomorrow for the weekend. We are going to Philly to celebrate Andrea's nuptials. Our first stop after he lands? Red Robin, of course. You haven't been to the one in Augusta yet? Shame on you! Get the Banzai--it's my fave.

Give me DirectV or Give me Boredom!

an essay by Maddy

I need Direct Tv! If we don't get it soon, I will die of boredom. I believe I have strong reasons. For one, there are more channels. If nothing's on one channel, then you don't have a limited selection. Well, you do, but it's better than only four channels. Another reason is that it will help me with current events and science homework. My final reason is that Mom can lay on the couch all day watching the Steelers. It would really be good if Dad took the car to a meeting and the Jeep had a flat tire or couldn't start. Then Mom wouldn't have to worry about missing the game. Mom, Dad, think about installing Direct TV, please?

back to Rk...
now how do you like that? I don't really care for being portrayed as sitting on my ass watching football all the time, but I guess if the shoe fits......

I actually think the worst mom ever would not even care if their kids had dinner, because their kids would be in a dumpster somewhere...

just a thought.

going down in history as....

perhaps the worst mom ever.

Let's review what my children have eaten for dinner the past two nights.

Last night:

Isaiah: left over pasta/w grampa's sauce
mad: toast, banana

tonight:

Isaiah: cereal
maddy: toast, cereal

she wants chicken, but the chicken doesn't seem to want to get done before bedtime. I hate chicken legs, what posesses me to cook them, they always take so long.

This planning a schedule is going to take some getting used to. I was all set to make my family this healthy tasty dinner, but i got discombobulated with the bball game and screwed up all my timing. ARG!!!

Book Review: I Like You

The most fun part of this book is figuring out what she is saying in jest and what she really means. The recipes are for the most part, basic 50s housewife cookbook recipes--she does mention ambrosia salad but has no idea what it is called or how to make it.

EVERYONE in our family would benefit from this book--particularly the information/tips about BEING a guest. I love you all, but some of you are not very polite guests, I'll admit it. I'm not saying I'm an angel either, but I will say that this book has opened my eyes to being a better guest. I'm going to try to be more polite in '07. Though, being polite without being phoney is tough. You'll still know it if I don't like you, sorry.

I agree with you Jen. 2006 is the suckiest on record so far. Here's to '07!!!
